The 30-second spot, called “Champion,” features former Autism Speaks President Liz Feld, who explains that Faso advocated on behalf of the organization and families to ensure that state-regulated insurance companies covered treatments for early diagnosis and intervention of autism, which previously was not being done. The law Faso advocated for has helped over 50,000 children on the autism spectrum gain new coverage for certain health-related treatments since it went into effect in 2012 after its passage by the state legislature in 2011. John Faso fought side by side with parents to get insurance companies to cover these treatments. Some people attack John as a lobbyist, but he’s our champion. This uplifting TV ad follows others that highlight Faso’s longstanding commitment to his community and his friendship with retiring congressman Chris Gibson, who has endorsed Faso and worked with both sides of the aisle on fiscal concerns, veterans’ affairs issues and paid particularly close attention to local issues such as agriculture and farming, improving treatment for Lyme disease and expanding access to broadband throughout the district. Previous ads cite Faso’s record of results as a leader, notably his efforts to push for a property tax cap, which his opponent is against, and his role in creating New York’s STAR program, which saves taxpayers millions of dollars each year. “Champion” will run on cable television and digital outlets throughout the district.
