Beals Still Silent on Cost of Single-Payer
June 14, 2018

Valatie, NY –  With less than two weeks before the June 26th primary, far-left progressive candidate Jeff Beals continues to advocate for government run national single-payer healthcare system while refusing to say how he will pay for it.

Justice Democrats and People for Bernie, organizations with ties to Bernie Sanders, as well as liberal activist and actor Susan Sarandon have recently endorsed Beals. In return, Beals has embraced Sanders’ Medicare for All single-payer health care scheme.

“Just like Bernie Sanders, Jeff Beals supports a single-payer health care scheme that will eliminate private medical insurance and undermine the solvency of Medicare for seniors, but won’t say how he’ll pay for it,” Faso for Congress campaign manager Tom Szymanski said. “The Sanders-Beals plan will cost taxpayers trillions in new taxes and voters throughout the district deserve a straight forward answer on how Jeff Beals plans to pay for it.”

A Vox.com study released last year concluded that Beals’ plan would “likely result in the largest tax increase in modern American history.”

John Faso (R-Kinderhook) was elected to Congress from the 19th Congressional district in 2016. To learn more about Faso, visit johnfaso.com.
