Delgado Ducks a Debate in Delaware Co., Restricts TV Press Access

Valatie, NY – In a FiOS1 Newsbreakers panel discussion, the host notes that Antonio Delgado’s campaign has informed the press that the candidate is not doing television interviews. Delgado’s refusal to do television interviews is the latest example of his efforts to mislead voters and his dependence on scripted situations where he can repeat talking points copy and pasted from the Pelosi Playbook.

Whitman: “one thing that he hasn’t been doing is a lot of TV interviews. I’ve reached out to him for interviews. Other outlets have also. We’ve been told by the campaign that he’s not doing television interviews at this point.” (Newsbreakers, 09/22/18, 2:45 timestamp)

O’Reilly: “To John’s credit, he always talks to the press. He did it in all his races I’ve worked with him. He always does them.” (Newsbreakers, 09/22/18, 3:40 timestamp)

“The same week Antonio Delgado refused to debate in Delaware County, we receive confirmation he is restricting the press’ access to him while on the trail,” said Joe Gierut, communications director for the Faso campaign. “Mr. Delgado continues to mislead voters and his refusal to debate with each of the qualified candidates in Delaware County, after trying to claim Congressman Faso is avoiding debates, is hypocrisy in its purest form. The facts are Mr. Delgado is the one avoiding debates in addition to avoiding television reporters and their requests to do interviews.”

John Faso has accepted five debate invitations and has held over 1,000 constituent meetings since entering Congress, including two traditional town halls, a radio town hall, nine forums of which he was an invited speaker, six appearances on WAMC’s Vox Pop, eleven teletown halls, group meetings with activists, and more.

Dodge, dip, dive, and duck the debates.
Antonio Delgado rejected the opportunity to engage on the issues with his fellow candidates John Faso, Steve Greenfield, and Diane Neal. It’s shameful that Mr. Delgado has to be publicly goaded into debating, and it’s equally shameful he doesn’t see the voters in the rural regions of the 19th District as a priority.

Check the facts.
Earlier this week, the Delgado campaign admitted that they’ve been using a false attack in a television ad about the so-called ‘age tax.’ The ‘age tax’ doesn’t exist in New York and has been previously debunked.

Delgado flops in Ulster County.
In Ulster County, John Faso lapped Antonio Delgado on the debate stage. Delgado was forced to resort to rehearsed answers and copy and paste talking points from Nancy Pelosi to get through the discussion.
