‘Frugal,’ First of General Election, Features Faso’s Wife, Mary Frances

Kinderhook, NY — August 23, 2016 … The campaign for John Faso, the Republican, Conservative, Independence and Reform candidate running for Congress in the 19th Congressional District, has released its first television advertisement for the general election.

The spot, called “Frugal,” features Faso’s wife, Mary Frances, and playfully highlights Faso’s fiscal responsibility at his Kinderhook home, before transitioning to his time as a leading expert in state budgetary matters, when he was instrumental in closing a $5 billion deficit and cutting state spending, which was the first reduction in nearly 50 years.

Script below:

Mary Frances: Some call my husband John Faso ‘tight-fisted’… We like to think of him as ‘frugal.’

Being frugal in the Assembly helped him eliminate a 5 billion dollar deficit, and write the first budget in over 50-years that cut state spending.

Wait until he takes that “frugality” to Washington.

Boy do they need it.

John Faso: I’m John Faso, and I approve this message.

I thought I turned this down?

Mary Frances: What? I can’t hear you.

The ad will start on cable television throughout the district. Previous ads run in the primary also highlighted Faso’s fiscal record of cutting taxes and closing budget deficits and outline his key reform principles to help small businesses, notably simplifying the tax code, ending corporate welfare, investing in small businesses and ending Washington’s regulatory madness.

Faso is running to fill the seat now held by Congressman Chris Gibson (R), who is not seeking re-election. As a member of the New York Assembly, Faso developed and pushed proposals that led to real balanced budgets – including the first reduction in state spending in decades while closing a $5 billion deficit. He championed legislation that made a difference for tens of thousands of families such as the STAR program and education and real property tax reform. A former board member of the Rockefeller Institute of Government, Faso also served for three years as a member of the Control Board that worked to fix the financial and managerial issues of the City of Buffalo and its school system.

Mr. Faso and his wife, Mary Frances, a registered nurse, are the proud parents of two children. They have lived in Kinderhook, New York, for more than three decades.
