Our Second Amendment rights are under threat and must be protected.
As an avid supporter of the Second Amendment and strong opponent of New York’s SAFE Act — with a lifetime “A” rating from the NRA — I will continue to be a vocal advocate and defender of the Second Amendment rights of New Yorkers – and all Americans. I’ll oppose and fight against Washington overreach and liberal efforts to trample on our freedoms, from trying to take away legally purchased firearms from law-abiding citizens to their push for a national registry.
I’ll stand up to those efforts to infringe on our freedoms and more – like opposing the Washington, D.C., law which not only restricted a police officer’s ownership of a firearm, but also hindered the use of a gun for home protection by requiring it to be disassembled. Justice Scalia felt the same way. In his opinion striking down the law in the historic District of Columbia v. Heller Supreme Court decision, the late Justice Scalia restored our Constitutional right to possess and use firearms for lawful purposes, including self-defense. Read my op-ed on Justice Scalia’s important legacy and our individual right to bear arms, submitted to NYSRPA’s Bullet magazine below.
