Defending Your Rights

JF_ShootingOur Second Amendment rights are under threat and must be protected.

As an avid supporter of the Second Amendment and strong opponent of New York’s SAFE Act — with a lifetime “A” rating from the NRA — I will continue to be a vocal advocate and defender of the Second Amendment rights of New Yorkers – and all Americans. I’ll oppose and fight against Washington overreach and liberal efforts to trample on our freedoms, from trying to take away legally purchased firearms from law-abiding citizens to their push for a national registry.

I’ll stand up to those efforts to infringe on our freedoms and more – like opposing the Washington, D.C., law which not only restricted a police officer’s ownership of a firearm, but also hindered the use of a gun for home protection by requiring it to be disassembled. Justice Scalia felt the same way. In his opinion striking down the law in the historic District of Columbia v. Heller Supreme Court decision, the late Justice Scalia restored our Constitutional right to possess and use firearms for lawful purposes, including self-defense. I am:

  • Endorsed and A-rated by the NRA
  • A gun owner
  • NRA and S.C.O.P.E. member

As your Congressman, I will:

  • Defend the Second Amendment Rights of New Yorkers as well as all Americans.
  • Uphold the Constitution.
  • Oppose legislation that allows the federal government to prohibit the sale or lawful use of firearms.
  • Oppose a return of the so-called federal “assault weapons” ban.
  • Oppose SAFE Act-style restrictions on magazine capacities for law-abiding citizens.
  • Oppose the Obama-Clinton national registry.
  • Support the self-defense rights of a law-abiding concealed carry license holder in one state by making right-to-carry legal for self-protection in any other state.
  • Protect the value of our local sporting and outdoor heritage.
