New York State Troopers PBA Endorses John Faso in New York’s 19th Congressional District
September 26, 2018

Valatie, NY – The Faso for Congress campaign announced the endorsement of the Police Benevolent Association (PBA) of the New York State Troopers. More than 6,000 active and retired members of the New York State Police are represented by the PBA.

“The Police Benevolent Association of the New York State Troopers is proud to announce the endorsement of John Faso for Congress. The challenges facing members of the law enforcement community are greater than ever before, and we need individuals like John Faso in leadership positions to help law enforcement officers better serve the residents of New York State.” – Thomas Mungeer, President, New York State Troopers PBA

“It is an honor to have the support of the State Troopers PBA and their members,” said Faso. “The troopers serve as a front line in ensuring our communities are safe. We are all indebted to their service in making our state a better place to start a business and raise a family.”

Faso has been an outspoken advocate ensuring federal, state and local law enforcement have the support and access to the tools necessary to keep us safe. His efforts include:

• Voting to increase federal resources available to states to combat the opioid epidemic including $330 million for the Comprehensive Addiction and Recovery Act programs — a $227 million increase over the previous year.

• Voting for increased grant funding available to state and local law enforcement agencies including the $1.7 billion for the State and Local Law Enforcement Assistance grant program, $492 million for Violence Against Women Act programs and $275 million for the Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) grant program.

• Voting for H.R. 5698 — the Protect and Serve Act which creates federal penalties for those who deliberately and violently target local, state, or federal law enforcement officials.

• Voting for H.R. 115 – the Thin Blue Line Act, which toughens penalties, changes oversight and makes the murder or attempted murder of a local or state police officer, firefighter or other first responder an “aggravating” factor in death penalty determinations.
