Leftist Billionaire and Iran Nuclear Deal Advocate is No Friend of Israel: Faso

NY-19–Aug. 22..Radical professor and NY-19 congressional candidate Zephyr Rain Teachout needs to explain her ties to billionaire leftist George Soros and his complex web of left wing interest groups, the campaign of congressional candidate John Faso today said.

Mr. Soros, an ardent critic of Israel, was a chief proponent of President Obama’s Iran Nuclear Deal that Professor Teachout also supports. Prof. Teachout, who rails against “the billionaire class” in public, is aided by radical Soros-funded groups like MoveOn.org, and she is holding a September fundraiser in the home of Jonathan Soros, Mr. Soros’s son.

“Professor Teachout’s hypocrisy is only half the issue here,” said Faso campaign manager Dain Pascocello. “The larger issue is her relationship with the far-left Soros wing of the Democratic Party and what that says about her as a candidate, on Israel in particular.  What, for example, does Prof. Teachout think about Mr. Soros’s widely reported claim that, “…anti-Semitism is the result of the policies of Israel and the United States.’”

Mr. Faso, a thirty-plus-year-resident of Kinderhook, NY — Prof. Teachout moved to the district from New York City in  January to run for the NY19 seat — strongly opposed the Obama Iran Nuclear Deal, saying that it gave billions of dollars to one one of the world’s biggest sponsors of terrorism, virtually guarantees that Iran will get nuclear weapons, and poses an existential threat to the State of Israel.

“Prof. Teachout is not your parents’ Democrat,” Mr. Pascocello warned. “She comes from a growing radical wing of the Democratic Party that wants to raise taxes, hand  more control of our lives over to Washington bureaucrats, and continue marginalizing Israel, our chief ally and the only working democracy in the Middle East. Her positions are totally out of step with the values of families in this district, which she may not know because she’s never had a connection to them.”
