Statement from John Faso, who is running for the 19th Congressional District, On Tuesday’s Republican Primary Win
June 28, 2016

“I am humbled by Tuesday’s outcome and congratulate Zephyr Teachout on her win as well. Mary Fran and our family and I are enormously touched by the confidence voters have placed in us. Now this race begins in earnest, and ours is a cause that must be won. Not just for us, but for all those who still value the American Dream. We must change the direction in Washington. The private sector must also be set free so that we can prosper again. Main Street America is in crisis. The ivory tower intellectuals and radical left progressives think they know better than we do. And with every new radical idea comes a price tag: Higher taxes and debt, more job-killing regulations, and government oversight over more of our daily lives. This election will be about common-sense America fighting back against the progressive left elitists who want to control all aspects of our lives and our national economy. It’s about giving power back to citizens and entrepreneurs — shaking the yoke of the central planners and insider-government dealmakers from our backs. This we must do to restore our nation and reclaim the American Dream for our families.” — John Faso.

In addition to the Republican line, Faso has also earned the Conservative, Independence and Reform lines in November’s general election.

Faso is running to fill the seat now held by Congressman Chris Gibson (R), who is not seeking re-election. As a member of the New York Assembly, Faso developed and pushed proposals that led to real balanced budgets – including the first reduction in state spending in decades while closing a $5 billion deficit. He championed legislation that made a difference for tens of thousands of families such as the STAR program and education and real property tax reform. A former board member of the Rockefeller Institute of Government, Faso also served for three years as a member of the Control Board that worked to fix the financial and managerial issues of the City of Buffalo and its school system.

Mr. Faso and his wife, Mary Frances, a registered nurse, are the proud parents of two children. They have lived in Kinderhook, New York, for more than three decades.

John Faso (R-Kinderhook) is former Republican leader of the state Assembly and candidate for Congress in the 19th Congressional district. To learn more about Faso, visit johnfaso.com.
