Release Follows Another That Highlights His Record of Cutting Spending

Kinderhook, NY — August 25, 2016 … The campaign for John Faso,the Republican, Conservative, Independence and Reform candidate running for Congress in the 19th Congressional District, has released its second television advertisement for the general election — this one focusing on his plan to fix Upstate’s struggling economy.

The 30-second spot, called “Plan,” focuses on Faso’s plan to help New Yorkers, including simplifying the tax code, ending corporate welfare, encouraging small business investment and eliminating some of the burdensome regulations driven by Washington. Faso was recently endorsed by the National Federation of Independent Business, an advocacy organization representing 325,000 small businesses across the country.

“Plan” follows another ad released earlier this week, called “Frugal” featuring Faso’s wife Mary Frances, who playfully highlights Faso’s fiscal responsibility at his Kinderhook home, before transitioning to his time as a leading expert on state budgetary matters and record of cutting spending.

Panel to Ensure No One Gets Lost in VA’s Bureaucracy

Kinderhook, NY — August 11, 2016 … Congressman Chris Gibson, (R-Kinderhook), who served his country for more than two decades in the U.S. Army, will serve as honorary chairman of a Veterans Advisory Committee formed by Congressional candidate John Faso that is comprised of veterans across the 11 county district, the Faso campaign today announced.

The goal of the group is to ensure our military veterans are provided the necessary care, treatment and job placement services upon returning home from service at home and abroad, and Gibson’s leadership will provide the experience and know-how so that no members of our armed services fall through the bureaucratic cracks of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, Faso said.

“Chris is a friend and a patriot, and I am grateful that he will be part of this important group,” Faso said. “His experience is invaluable in this all-too-important mission of ensuring that the brave men and women returning home from service get the adequate mental health services and more that they need and deserve from the VA. If elected, I will continue the policy and advocacy work that Chris has done for our veterans and pledge to be just as hands-on and active on these vitally important issues.”

Both Gibson and Faso will meet with veterans as part of a listening tour at the Veterans Outreach Center at 3 p.m. on Friday in Oneonta, N.Y., 3 W. Broadway, Oneonta.

Faso, who is running for Congress in the 19th Congressional District (Gibson is not seeking re-election) on the Republican, Conservative, Independence and Reform lines, announced the formation of this committee earlier this year as a way to work with veterans to provide guidance and advice on a range of veteran-related issues, including access to quality healthcare and job placement. If elected, Faso has proposed to establish a competitive grant program at the federal level to fund qualified nonprofits that provide peer-to-peer counseling services to veterans suffering from PTSD, TBI and other trauma.

The program would be paid for with an estimated $40 million a year in savings through 2024 by capping bonuses of senior executives at the VA and finding further savings through an audit of federal mental health programs under SAMHSA. There is no matching state or local share.

Prof. Teachout: “One of the original sins in modern thinking is the separation of thinking about economics and politics.”

KINDERHOOK, NY … August 9, 2016 — Hard-left-wing academic turned congressional candidate Professor Zephyr Teachout, who moved to New York’s 19th Congressional from New York City only recently so that she could run for congress, evidently has won an early and logical endorsement — from The Communist Party USA, John Faso for Congress today announced.

The rave review of Prof. Teachout’s radical politics comes via the Party’s news organ, Peoplesworld.org, formerly known as the Daily Worker. The mission of peoplesworld.org, among other things, is “to popularize the ideas of Marxism.”

“Prof. Teachout is a Vermonter-turned-North-Carolinian-turned-Brooklynite-turned-NY-19 renter who went to New York State Supreme Court in 2014 to prove that she was a New York City resident so that she could run for governor. Now she and her cohorts have their eyes set on an upstate New York congressional seat, in an area she neither knows nor has any connection to, as a platform from which to push their leftist agenda nationally.

“It’s no surprise that the Communist Party newspaper would be one-hundred-percent behind this hard left-wing academic,” said Faso campaign manager Dain Pascocello. “They nor she have any connection to the 19th district; this all about getting one of their ideological ilk to a microphone in Washington via any available route. The families of the 19th congressional district have zero to do with their plans.”

Faso, a former local assemblyman and long-time community advocate, has lived in upstate Kinderhook with his wife, Mary Frances, for more than 30 years. Mr. Faso, who Peoplesworld.org predictably calls a “right winger,” wants to lower personal income and  business taxes to spur investment in the economy and cut excessive red-tape government regulations that are holding back job development in New York. Mr. Faso has a reputation for focusing on issues that directly matter to his constituents.
